Bad Idea.
I imagine they're doing it before they get too old to still actually be the 'Spice Girls', but I think the problem, for them, is that their success was not really predicated upon music; more upon trying to sell 12 yer old girls the idea that 'girl power' was all about wearing short skirts, big trainers and doing karate kicks. Oh, and having cute, malleable nicknames. Take That might have made a good fist of a comeback, but that has a lot to do with twenty/thirty something women nostalgically indulging their teenage crushes. Plus, much as I think he's a talentless clown, Robbie Williams' success has been instrumental in keeping the TT narrative going. The Spice Girls have no equivalent. They may still all be famous, but it ain't because of anything to to with music. Let's face it, there's no sign of age dimming the public's enthusiasm for Madonna, Joni Mitchell, Kate Bush et al. It may not all be about music with this lot either, but it mostly is. It's going to be interesting to see whether the Spice Girls' now grown up audience is ready to buy into whatever 'brand' the Spice Girls decide to use as their manifesto this time around.
it feels good to generalise, sometimes...
